Library Policies
BOOK LOANS
Students may borrow books for up to three weeks.
Limits are:
- Preschoolers and Kindergarteners: 1 book
- First graders: 3 books
- Second through sixth graders: 5 books
RENEWALS: Not finished with a book and it's due? Bring the book to the library, and as long as nobody else has requested it, you'll have it for another three weeks.
REQUESTS: If the book that you wanted is checked out, ask at the desk to reserve the book. When the book is returned, we'll let you know and you can come in and pick it up.
LIBRARY RULES: The library rules are simple. Everyone in the UES community shares the space and the books. We act in consideration of all our fellow learners.
- Sharing the space. People are
often reading and studying in the library. You are asked to maintain a
level 0-1 voice to allow them to do their work. In the interest of
safety for all, running is not permitted in the library. Kindness is
required for a pleasant library experience.
- Sharing the books. Take care of the books in the ways that you hope that everyone else has. Turn pages carefully, and always use a book mark instead of folding over corners or leaving the book face open. Keep books safe on a shelf away from pets and young children. And always make sure that your hands are clean before reading!
Hours
The library is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. The library may be open later if staff is available.
