Chess Club Event Results

 

University Elementary Chess Teams win Regional Championship and more

On Saturday March 1st, our chess teams won three more team trophies for University Elementary School at the Indiana State Regional Team Tournament at Indianapolis, clearly making our marks on the Indiana scholastic chess scene.

Our 3rd grade and under team represented by Alan B., Dawson D., Joseph H. and Seth L. was placed third among nine teams. More impressively, our 6th grade and under teams A and B won first and second places among the 14 teams in that division. The players on team A are Josh L-M, Winston W., Ronald D. and Matthew Z. The players on team B are Christopher A., Evan M., Alexander D. and Gleb A. Team C was placed 11th and was represented by Guthrie D., Elias M-S, Alexander W., Aiden W. L. and Ahmad S.

As a result of this tournament, our U3 and U6 A and B teams are qualified to advance to State Final Team Championship on March 29th at Terre Haute. Chess players and coaches, we are very proud of you!

State Final Tournament Results

Congratulations to all players and coaches at the State Final Tournament this past Saturday March 29th at Terre Haute!

Our third grade under team won 9th place among 38 teams. In the sixth grade and under division, our A team was third place and our B team was 11th place among 32 teams. We brought back a two-foot tall third place trophy and a 9th place trophy for the school. It was a very exciting and intense day for all of us. Many coaches and parents from all over Indiana commented on the strength of the players from our school.

Third grade team members are Alan B., Seth L., Dawson D., Joseph H. and Jack M.. Sixth grade team A members are Josh L-M, Winston W, Ronald D. and Matthew Z. Team B members are Christopher A., Evan M., Alexander D., Gleb A. and Abdulaziz A. It definitely was a memorable day for all the kids, parents and coaches.
